Ambassador of the United States to Belgrade Christopher Hill, in a recent interview with the Serbian medium “Telegraf”, has also talked about Yugoslavia's bombing in 1999.
Hill said you should remember that something like that happened 23 years ago and it's the same as talking about the events of 1968 or 1945.
Meanwhile, it says that the “personally regrets” that such a thing happened in American history, but adds that lessons should be learned from the past and that it should not be taken hostage to it.
“I'm not happy about that. But at some point people must turn to the future to move forward. To try to take lessons from the past, but not to become hostages and slaves of the past”, Hill said.
The American diplomat has now said he has returned to Serbia in hopes that he will work hard together. According to him, it should be focused on the future and not on something that happened 23 years ago.
I came here after 23 years, with expectations that we can do a lot together. We share the same values and outlooks and I think that we should focus on this, and not on something that happened 23 years ago”, added away from Hill.
