EULEX confirms Kosovo asked for help in carrying Dejan Pantiqi from Jarinje

From EULEX, they have confirmed that Kosovo authorities have asked him for help in carrying Dejan Pantic from Jarinje to the police station. They have not responded if they have rejected this request, but Pantic is still holding an improvised station, across the barricades. Kosovo authorities do not reveal exactly where Dejan Pantic is being kept, arrested under suspicion of terrorist attacks. Police reportedly failed to take him to the centre of custody because of the barricades, and he was being held at Jarinje. There he was also arrested, by Kosovo police officers, who have also been detained after the road barricade on December 10th.

From EULEX they have confirmed that Kosovo authorities have made such a request.

“We confirm that EULEX has received a request from Kosovo authorities to help transfer D. P” says in response to this mission for the Express Journal.

Dejan Pantek is a former Kosovo police officer who has been arrested under suspicion of organising the attack on members of the Central Election and Police Commission in northern Mitrovica on 6 December.

Serbian officials and the Serbian media have said the situation is bad and that it is not being treated well. Police have denied this, while EULEX says it is monitoring the case.

“Mission is in contact with the Kosovo Police, Special Prosecutor, Special Department of the Pristina Foundation Court, and also with D.P.'s lawyer. In line with his mandate, EULEX is monitoring the opportunity to assess how the Kosovo authorities are being handled by”, EULEX said on Friday.

Pantic's lawyer, Srdjan Mitrovich, has told Serbian media in Kosovo that Pantik is being held “in an facility in Jarinje” and that he is tired. EULEX during the week has hinted it is being held in Leposaviq.

Neither the Kosovo Police nor the Special Prosecutor have answered questions about the Pantiqi transfer, but police with a public statement have said that after the northern road has been reached, new <x0) working circumstances have been created in all cases north of the country”.

In addition to the arrest, the media in Kosovo have reported on a number of police officers who have remained trapped at the border points since the barricades were established.

Kosovo police have not detailed the situation of these officers, who were reported without official data.

For Kosovo police, reportedly trapped in Jarinje, EULEX says they are in contact and in continued co-ordination with the KK and KFOR.

“Regarding the state of Kosovo police officers, E ULEX, as the second security responsibility of Kosovo, is in constant contact and co-ordination with the Kosovo Police and KFOR”, says EULEX response”.

Today is the sixth day since the barricades, which were not removed even after Kosovo postponed the elections scheduled to be held in the four Serb majority municipalities in northern Kosovo, following the resignation of their mayors in November.

The United States of America and the European Union have made constant demands to remove barricades. Kosovo expects KFOR and EULEX to act.

The American Emisar for the Western Balkans, while staying in Pristina, has said the barricades must be removed from the people who have established them.
