“A constructive approach is certainly the way to find a solution”, Hill said after meeting with Serbia's President Aleksandar Vuciq.
According to him, the US and the EU are acting harmonised regarding Kosovo, adding that he believes both sides understand they must reach a solution.
I had a good conversation with Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vuciq. We talked about the Brussels process”, Hill told reporters in front of the Palace of Serbia.
He stressed that the United States is very satisfied with efforts undertaken by the EU and its approach.
While referring to yesterday's talks, where the High Representative almost made Kosovo guilty of having reached agreement, Hill left no dilemma.
I find it impressive that a man of such rank and status, Josep Borell, engaged for eight hours in resolving the matter of consistency. We continue to support The EU in its efforts,” underlined Hill.
He said he has called on Vuciqi to continue his constructive engagement in the process.
Hill hopes a solution will be found, but added that both sides should be involved.
“A constructive approach is certainly the way to find a solution,” he said.
He said the EU is doing an excellent job, but should not allow urgent problems to overshadow important issues.
Hill said the EU has made it clear it takes more than 48 hours to resolve the current issue. “The EU has made it clear that it would like to see another 365 days,” added Hill.
For talks yesterday in Brussels, he said he would not talk about failure, but that what happened shows he needs further talks.
“The way to reach a solution is flexibility with the EU mediators' efforts,” concluded Hill.
