Begaj urges Kosovo recognition of Azerbaijani president in Albania

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev is on an official visit to Albania, where he first met with Albanian President Bajram Begaj, who has spoken to deepening bilateral reports. During his speech, Begaj called for Aliyev's recognition of Kosovo from Azerbaijan and its failure to prevent it from travelling towards membership in [the...] organisations.
During his speech, Begaj called for Aliyev's recognition of Kosovo by Azerbaijan and its failure to prevent it from travelling towards membership in key international organisations.
“As for our region, I expressed to friendly President Aliyev the position that Kosovo is extremely important for Albania. Kosovo's stability and democratic progress is important not only for us, but for the stability and progress of our entire region. We encourage the government of Azerbaijan to resound and do not prevent Kosovo's membership in various international bodies, such as the Council of Europe or the recognition of documents of Kosovo citizens' travel. No less important is inter-parliamentary co-operation. The establishment of the Parliamentary Friendship Group between Albania and Azerbaijan must be followed by other steps, creating opportunities for intensifying co-operation between our two parliaments”, Begaj said, while Aliyev urged Albania to support Azerbaijan's demands for sanctions against Armenia for what is happening in the Nagorni Karabakh region.
Aliyev also cited the fact that Albania is a passenger gas crossing route to Europe.
“by 2027 we will double the gas supply for Europe and this gas will go through Albania”, Aliyev said, adding that Azerbaijan has large quantities of gas and could double the amount of gas it is transported from its country to Europe. /abcnews. al
