34 courses and seven instructors were practicing navigation when they were hit by avalanches during their descent from a peak in the northern state of Uttarakhand.
Police say 14 people have been rescued, while about 20 are still missing as India's air force is assisting in rescue efforts, the BBC writes.
Search efforts were interrupted during the night, due to rainfall and snow, but resumed Wednesday.
Uttarakhand police chief Ashok Kumar told the ANI news agency that rescue teams could resume operations after the weather has been cleared.
Six bodies have been found today. And so far, a total of 10 troops have been found,” he said.
