This proposal is believed to have been made by French officials, and supported by at least four other states: Sweden, Belgium, Holland, and Spain.
What is the system? E TIAS?
ET The IAS means the European Information System and Travel Authorisation. The European Union has created this programme to protect and strengthen its borders. Chief Purpose of ETIAS for Europe is to identify possible threats or risks associated with visitors travelling to any of the Schengen area countries.
Authorizing the Journey E TIAS will be needed to enter a Schengen member country by air, land or sea. By November 2023, visitors who do not need visas to enter Europe will be able to register at ETIAS. ETIAS will become a mandatory entry request.
