Osmani says 90% of Kosovo Serbs converted vehicle plates to RKS

President Vjosa Osmani said there has been enough deadline for Serbs to convert their car plates to RKS. This is what the chief of state said when asked for answers to the U.S. request that this deadline not end at the end of this month, such as before, but [...]
“The issue of license plates above all is the issue of rule of law, because over 90% of Serbs living in Kosovo have already converted the plates of the past into legal license plates”, Osmani said initially. “So, they have respected the law and at the same time contributed to the rule of law and to equal treatment before law”, she added.
Osmani said converting plates is in line with local legislation and international practices.
“As for a small minority that has not yet converted plates and used Milosevic's time plates, our demand is to respect the law. There has been enough deadlines for this conversion to take place for this small number of citizens who haven't done it, in full compliance with what local legislation requires, but also international practices”, she said.
The president took Poland as an example, as if some 20 years after the war, the cars with license plates of Hitler's day still circulated.
To have Milosevic's time license plates as a citizen of Kosovo, Osmani said it is “not only illegal”, but also immoral “”.
The US Special Emissar for the Western Balkans, Gabriel Escobar, visited Kosovo on Wednesday and said they have asked the Government of Kosovo to extend the deadline for converting plates for another 10 months.
