Education Minister Arberie Nagavci has declared that most teachers have been in their jobs Saturday to compensate for lost hours as a result of the strike, even though the lesson has not been held in all Kosovo schools.
She has said she does not believe there will be stops in teacher salaries, but that today during the day data is expected to be collected on Saturday.
It before the media has added that the realisation of teaching in some schools has not gone as planned, due to lack of information.
Following the certificate of school directors and co-ordinators for quality security, Nagavci has been declared to have reiterated the necessity for replacing hours.
I think this Saturday day, for various reasons, has not been achieved by 100 percent as planned. I believe that's also because of the lack of sufficient information on our part and on schools. But also because of the investigation by various statements or tensions that parents have experienced. There is no more room for revision because we have tried to convey the message, and I use it to appeal both to my parents and to our teachers to arrange for all the losses caused by the students. If left by the end of the school year, the second half year will begin until half or late July, which is proven that not nearly efficient as if it is currently organised”, Nagavci said.
Nagavci has added that the implementation of time replacements has changed from school to school even within the municipality.
“The situation has distinguished from municipality to municipality, from school to school. Where information has been sufficient from school, learning has been accomplished. Even within the same municipality, for example in Pristina it has distinguished the situation from school to school. Representatives of the Parents' Council with their often reckless and unstable statements consider that they have caused confusion. And I use this opportunity to ask the representatives of the Parents Council, those who are being called on behalf of the Parents' Council to pay attention to their children's best interest. It is three months lost, and it is not the fact that children are tired and loaded down; rather, they need all of us, both the ministry and the parents and the educators, to be with the children to give their best to compensate for the losses caused”, Nagavci added.
Furthermore, it has reiterated that meetings with the SBASK for resolving their demands have been continuous and that the goal should be co-ordination, not meetings without results.
The completion of the school year calendar is the responsibility and competence of the Ministry of Education. Such executive decisions, especially when dealing with children, should be made sure that all of us are fulfilled together. I don't have any worries or concerns about meeting with anyone if they're”, Nagavci declared.
She has claimed that in the avariable salaries that have been executed for teachers there have been cases which have been in the minus.
The education minister has indicated even if there will be stops for teachers who have not been teaching on Saturday.
The “have been stops for August, but all data have also been addressed. I believe this case has already improved... Based on the information we had from educational inspectors on Saturday, most of the teachers and schools were in their jobs. Today during the day, we will collect all the data and I believe there won't be a need to have stops, because most of them have been to their jobs”, Minister Nagavci has finished.
Otherwise, due to the strike in education, the Ministry of Education has decided on compensation for hours lost for the 2022/23 school year. The Parents' Council has been declared against compensation for lost classes, as this will harm the learning process.
After a month of strike, the new school year in Kosovo began on 3 October. The SASK decided to suspend the strike until January 2023.
In addition to education workers, as of August 25th on the strike were public administration workers as well as civil servants in local and central institutions.
The strike council requires an additional 100 euros for educators until the entry into force of the wage law, but this has been rejected by the Government of Kosovo.
