Haxhiu said the decision came after long-standing reports of legal medicine, that many people also do visceral tests.
She said further that the virgin test takes place in Albania and has no connection with religion, in response to activist Altin Hazizaj, who linked this test to the great influence of religion in Kosovo.
I have to strongly oppose that I don't believe it's religious, it's wrong to say. Both Kosovo and Albania have similar problems in this direction, and such cases of virginity test take place in Albania, so Albania should open this as a discussion to protect women”, Haxhiu said, at “Euroonews Albania”.
In addition, Minister Haxhiu has discussed the case of 11-year-old rape.
She said that increasing cases of domestic violence and sexual abuse is disturbing in Kosovo, towards changes in the penal code have been expected very well.
According to her, in the case of 11-year-old abuse, failure of the justice system has been proven.
The changes to the penal code in Kosovo are well received. Women and girls in Kosovo are not safe in their homes. A small percentage of violence is reported. In the case of the 11-year-old girl, we have seen the failure of the system that could not protect”, Minister Haxhiu said.
