Defence Minister Armend Mehaj has said that the idea must be changed that the army is for men, not women.
According to him, the integration of women into security is an important issue.
“Army is still considered a place for men, and we have to change this... The integration of women into security sectors is an important issue, it would be illusion if we believed that we would have long-term stability without including women”, Meheha said at the Forum for Women, Peace and Security.
Mehaj said that women's contribution, whether to the KLA fighting, but also as a doctor, or as women in different roles to helping the state, has been great.
“Grade were the ones who suffered the most. The number of victims was about 20 thousand that were violated and 12,000 houses that were burned down 1.6 thousand peronas that disappeared”, he added.
The minister said not only laws are enough, but a system in justice is needed, adding that many crimes committed in Kosovo have not been condemned.
