The Decani Monastery has opposed the Kosovo Constitutional Court's 2016 ruling on the property of this religious institution.
The Serbian Orthodox Diocese in Kosovo has always been open for dialogue with Kosovo institutions, but not for the legality of the Kosovo Constitutional Court's decision in 2016, which confirmed ownership of the Decani Monastery over 24 hectares. This is a firm position of EU, OSCE ambassadors and Quint states”, the Decani Monastery's Twitter announcement said.
This reaction by the Decani Monastery came after Prime Minister Albin Kurti's statement, which said he believes the issue of this religious institution will be resolved through dialogue.
We have a Constitutional Court ruling and some administrative decisions on these properties. I believe this issue will be resolved, but it is important to have dialogue between the Government of Kosovo and religious authorities at the Decani Monastery. I am the first prime minister of the Republic, which is not accepted at the meeting with Orthodox priests”, Kurti said at the NATO Parliamentary Assembly seminar.
