According to Greek police sources among those arrested, there are seven policemen investigated by the Police Internal Affairs Service in northern Greece.
Greek police units are conducting raids on residences in different cities, mainly in Follorine and Kostur in the presence of prosecutors, to identify evidence regarding charges weighing on those arrested.
On Tuesday, those arrested will be brought to the Kostur prosecution to face charges, Greek police sources said.
Trafficking in irregular foreign migrants from Greece to Albania with final destination European Union countries have recognised increases, especially in the past two years.
A report by the European Border Protection Organisation FRONTEX, published last week, stated that only during September of this year, the number of foreign migrants blocked at the European Union's external borders through the Balkan route had doubled compared to the same period last year.
