Doctors seek conditions to provide better services

The serious situation created in the health sector has led Prime Minister Albin Kurti to the meeting of the Health Executive Committee to warn of the signing of another administrative directive for the licensing of foreign health professionals. Prime Minister Albin Kurti has warned of the signing of an administrative directive for the licensing of foreign health professionals, which is expected to take place over the next week.

But Bekim Haxhiu, deputy The PDK, and a member of the Commission for Health, has told Radio Kosovo that the problem in Kosovo health is the departure of doctors abroad, not the arrival of foreign doctors to Kosovo.

The problem in Kosovo's health is the departure of doctors from Kosovo abroad, but there is no demand that doctors from European Union countries return to Kosovo. Each doctor in the EU receives a salary of 5,000 to 6 thousand euros and returns for a 600-euro salary in Kosovo?!

Plerata Sejdiu, from the Kosovo Medical Oda, says signing this instruction by the prime minister is not real because there is no willingness of foreign doctors or diaspora to return with a permanent stay in Kosovo.

If it is this to ease our fellow countrymen, our medical colleagues and to be employed in the public sector, for me, it is not real, because there is no readiness for an evacuation and their return to Kosovo with permanent work”, Sejdiu added.

Aurora Bollemberg, chairman of the Federation of Albanian Doctors in Europe, says that first investments should be made, in working conditions and then provided good salaries.

This return of doctors, even though it is a small number, should be strengthened and facilitated by creating working conditions by raising their salaries”, she said.

So far there are over 60 doctors who have left the SHSKUK going to the private sector, while the largest number are anesthesiologists.
