In a communiqué sent to media, the LB says the ZRRE and Government still have time to improve their mistakes to citizens.
The government must courageously assume the responsibility to solve the problem with consumers in the north, who do not pay for electricity, although they are constantly supplied with energy produced or imported by Kosovo operators. Not a few problems are being caused by the electromagnetic system from sending energy to the north in an entire region, where no cent” is paid for in the LB communiqué.
Full communication:
Kosovo is facing an energy crisis as a consequence of the global crisis. Despite the global energy crisis, past governments' mistakes (non-construction of new production capacities) as well as indolence and irresponsible behavior of the current government in the face of the situation, despite warnings of the energy crisis, make this crisis even more serious.
As a solution to the energy crisis, Z. The RRE has proposed a significant increase in electricity prices -- an increase that even after promised government subsidies -- hits a certain category of household consumers, respectively, those who spend more than 600K/h, who are required to carry the entire burden of electricity imports, doubled as a result of the global crisis.
This once-increasing electricity prices risks turning the energy crisis into a socio-economic crisis. Therefore, the ZERE would have to reflect and consider the many public opinion remarks to their proposals, more rightly distribute the burden of rising the price of electricity.
On the other hand, the Government of Kosovo, instead of accepting its share of guilt and taking over all of its expensive electricity burden (that is, a one-year subsidy of 132.7m euros) and the first year crisis not burdening citizens, it has chosen to ignore citizens' demands, even insulting them with scandalous statements, such as “Hrimma has been free”, or: <x2] the citizens have not even known how much of the energy bill<3).
And within this year the government would have time to take a series of measures that would make the crisis more affordable by citizens, or eliminate it altogether.
The government must courageously assume the responsibility to solve the problem with consumers in the north, who do not pay off electricity, although they are constantly supplied with energy produced or imported from Kosovo operators. Not a few problems are being caused by the electromagnetic system from sending energy to the north in a whole region where the waste of electricity does not pay a cent...
Then the Kosovo government should not allow for the 132.7 million required for covering additional electricity expenditures (due to price cost), to exclude Kosovo's north and thus distribute the burden of this additional payment on the backs of other Kosovo consumers, because it constitutes discrimination on ethnic grounds, for which there is a decision by the Pristina Foundation Court.
The Kosovo government should start a serious discussion on policies that would lead to the construction of Kosovo's new energy capacities, including coal and natural gas capacities for the coverage of the country's needs, considering that similar crisis situations could be repeated over and over again. These capacities should be built in full compliance with EU environmental norms and, as far as possible, without risking the safety of supply to contribute to lower emissions of carbon dioxide.
In drafting these policies and investment projects, the Kosovo government would have to work closely with the government of the Republic of Albania, not only because we are part of an energy block, but also because our two energy systems with different resources can complement each other very well.
