Former Ambassador William Walker spoke through a video message today at the commemoration ceremony of the 23rd anniversary of Recak's Massacre. Walker has said that Recak has a special place for him, and says the massacre in Recak last year has received much greater attention.
He says the whole world already has attention when it comes to the massacre in Recak.
However, Walker says there were initial reluctance by internationals, where he mentioned several foreign ambassadors to attend the Recak Massacre commemoration ceremony. Such detail Walker had never revealed before.
Walker says the international community and some of the embassies did not even express interest in participating in the Recak memorial ceremony, but says it has already changed.
In the past, what is remembered on January 15th was almost avoided by others, the international community, for example, some of the embassies that did not even express interest to participate and see what was happening. But this has finally changed”, Walker said.
