All family visits have been banned in Kosovo prisons, due to increased cases with COVID-19.
Through a media communiqué, the Kosovo Correcting Service announces that in co-operation with the Health Department of Prisons, based on assessing the overall state of pandemic in the country, with the aim of maintaining the health of prisoners and staff, it makes a decision since January 22, 2021, to take these temporary actions to implement anti-respondial measures. COVID-19:
Banning family visits for all categories of prisoners;
Stopping weekends to convict through correctional institutions;
Stop visits to separate bars;
Application of virtual communication system “Skype” to jail to enable contact with families, according to the routine set by the institution;
Allowing increased number of phone calls during this period;
Cleaning clothes for detention will be organised in institutions.
