Ukraine's president, Volodymyr Zelensky, has reacted to comments made by his American counterpart, Joe Biden.
There are no minor interventions. Just as there are no minor victims and minor grief over the loss of loved ones,” wrote Zelensky on Twitter.
Beden had declared that a small “ ” attack could bring a weaker response from the US and its allies to Russia.
President Vladimir Putin has made a series of requests to the West, insisting that Ukraine should never be allowed to join NATO and that the defence alliance should abandon military activity in Eastern Europe.
On Wednesday, President Biden said, at a press conference, that Putin would pay “serious and expensive price” for the invasion of Ukraine, the BBC writes, broadcast Clankosova.tv.
What you'll see is that Russia will be held responsible if it invades and that depends on what it does. It's one thing, if it's a sudden little attack and then we end up fighting for what we have to do and not do,” he said.
His comments prompted questions about how the US can respond to Russian aggression, and officials rushed to clarify Washington's position.
“We have been very clear all the time,” US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said on Thursday, adding that any unexpected Russian attack in Ukraine will have “rapid, harsh and united” by the US and its allies.
While Biden said any Russian troop entry would be counted as “lost”.
