“Cermonia placing our flag at the UN. Albania is now a member of the UN Security Council, the world's highest deploying table”, writes the head of the government in a post on social networks.
For the first time, 66 years after UN membership, Albania sits at the highest table for peace, security and stability.
This council consists of 15 members, where the US, United Kingdom, France, Russia and China are 5 permanent members, while the other 10 member states are on a two-year mandate.
The UN Security Council is one of the most important organs of the United Nations Organization, tasked with maintaining peace and security among nations.
