Sali Berisha's violent protest at DP headquarters has upset Americans.
Following the US and EU Embassy, even the Bureau of Consulal Affairs in the US State Department has condemned violent acts.
While distributing the US Embassy's post in Tirana, it has called on all citizens to avoid the area around the Democratic Party headquarters, which has already become a crime scene. The Bureau writes that other incidents may appear in other parts of the city.
“Protesta at the Democratic Party headquarters has escalated into violence, with incidents of physical strength and tear gas. Avoid the area and remain aware of the environment as incidents may arise in other parts of the city”, It says in post.
For about three hours Berisha's supporters destroyed everything they could at DP headquarters. The violence started before 12:00 when the protest was scheduled to begin. The first “Victima” of Berisha's militants was a member of the DP's Headship, Roland Beakko, whom the angry crowd surrounded and not a little pushed, as one attempted to hit with the umbrella.
Large quantities of tear gas were dropped during the protest. Gas was released from the side door of the headquarters, which, among other things, is a metal profile armour. Protesters have tried to climb the stairs to the second floor, where Chief Democrat Lulzim Basha and other DP members were located, but it has been impossible.
Some protesters have been thrown tear spray from a window on their floor. Police forces threw water to evacuate all protesters. The latter were scattered on different roads in the surrounding area because of the pouring out of water and tear gas.
The Democratic Party headquarters is surrounded by police with yellow crime scene. After the protesters left, the DP building has been taken over by police forces. The doors and windows of the first floor seem broken after the protest attempt to enter the headquarters.
But meanwhile, the PD headquarters is “the crime scene” and there are investigations by Tirana police and Prosecution.
