Ramos: Decani had a difficult year of poisoning, triple murder, deaths by COVID

Decani Mayor Bashkim Ramosaj said the following year has been challenging for the citizens of this municipality. He says poisoning citizens from drinking water, triple murder and people's deaths due to COVID-19 are reasons why last year has been difficult for the dean. However, he looks forward to projects aimed at implementing the new mandate following the confidence given in October last year in local elections.

Ramosaj expects justice organs to clear the case of the water poisoning of many citizens of this municipality, as well as the last case in which three citizens were brutally killed.

It's been a challenging year on several subjects, it's been challenging for the whole world and especially for our country. What's been happening with the water in Decani, we've been fighting a huge war to get these powers and have the power to manage the drinking water in the Decani municipality, because we've been knowing what we're talking about, we know how badly it gets and we know how vast they are in drinking water management in a city where there's huge water resources. [...] I hope that both investigative agencies, the prosecution, the court will complete the subject of water poisoning. It has not been an easy year especially with the difficult times we've had because some of the people in this city have been taken by the pandemic and the last time we had triple homicide. I wish the investigator, the prosecution, would not leave the option without studying it to give the final epilogue to this” event, he says.

The mayor of Decani says optimistic that this year the asphalt of Decan-Plav Street will be completed, despite clashes that have developed with representatives of the Decani Monastery during the past year, when work was banned.

For such a thing, Ramosaj says he also expects central level support, on the contrary, says he is not doing a favour to the country.

“We are expecting that in 2022 the part of the Republic of Kosovo is a good news that the Government of the Republic of Montenegro has shared a portion of the budget, however poor that budget is, at least by opening at least on the basis of the project that we have agreed with them in 2018 and 2019, that have to get this municipality out especially of the Plava municipality and those parts that have once been inhabited with Albanians will be extracted from this geographic trap in which they have remained. [...] I don't see any obstacles, and maybe I'm the most responsible person to say an exact thing, but I don't see any obstacle to building this road. It should only be budgeted. [.] I'm hoping there'll be will, of course there will, otherwise it's not honouring this country or this municipality”, Ramosaj says.

Ramosaj, who at the end of last year took the confidence of Decani citizens to lead another mandate with this municipality, says the main focus of his work will have the development of the tourism sector.

I am convinced of what I say will not last long, and Decani will be the chief hub of tourism in the Republic of Kosovo. It is the city that has the most potential for tourism in the Republic of Kosovo, it is the main asset the Republic of Kosovo has in the area of tourism. We have never understood this at the central level, because 60 percent of Decani Community's territory is a national park and being a national park where no space plan on this park has yet been adopted on us is being denied the right to develop these building concepts”, he says.

Ramosaj promises solutions to the sewage problem in this municipality, which according to him is divided into two parts.

It's divided into two parts, we already have six villages that are actually precontinent to implement this project, which are two Strells, Isniqi, Labusha, Prahani, Dubovik, Papiqi, who don't have sewage networks and there are some improvised networks, but we have to do it with a contemporary project that is within standards that don't get the trouble in the ecosystem of these settlements. There are 18 other villages where even though some of them have to deal with the problem of sewage, they are plants that are not built on standards and create this pollution, or this hard life”, he says.

The first of Decani says they will not ignore even investments in infrastructure, education, health and culture.
