Kamchev's decision to release, private hospital co-owner “Sistina” in Skopje, but also of many other businesses, the Court of Appeals took over Tuesday evening, as it assessed the amount offered as sufficient as guarantee not to escape.
Orce Kamchev, a family member of former secret police director Sasho Mijalkov, who before the New Year, was also released from custody with bank guarantees of nearly 11m euros.
Kamchev, like Mijalkov, is charged with criminal work “Palaces at Vodno”, illegal land purchase for construction.
The first indictee in this case is former Macedonian Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski, who is prosecuted for embezzlement of 1.3m euros from party donations used for the purchase of parcels in Vodno, the mountain resort in Skopje.
Orce Kamchev, as of 31 December, is in place for medical treatment at the <x0 hospital. Sistina” due to health complaints.
He has been in custody since March 2021, when he was arrested over allegations of escape.
The Court of Appeals' decision obliges Kamchev to appear regularly in court to testify to his presence in Skopje, while the travel documents have also been confiscated.
The businessman close to Gruevski is also suspected in another judicial process coded as the Empire “, which is investigated for financial crime, namely money laundering through companies in northern Macedonia and companies registered in foreign countries.
Kamchev is director of the company “Orca Holding”, founded since 1990 by his father.
The decision to release Kamchev and the next decision to release Sasho Mijalkov has sparked numerous reactions to the opinion, accusing the judiciary of links to past power, but corruption as well.
The judges who made the decision must account for the opinion on what basis they have made such a decision and in which form they will assume responsibility in case Mijalkov flees”, Justice Minister Bojan Maric said.
While the Alliance for Albanians accused the judiciary of double standards, as according to the Albanian opposition, all cases where Albanians are convicted remain unmet, writes the REL.
