A report by the state agency KCNA says it is the latest in a series of missile tests that have shown the development of the country's missile programme, Reuters notes.
The KCNA report came a day after the South Korean Army announced that North Korea had launched two short-range ballistic missiles with a short-range action from the airport to the DPA capital.
The KCNA also reported that the North Korean Academy of Defence Sciences conducted a test of short-range tactical missiles from the country's west and confirmed that the target had been hit precisely on an island on the eastern coast of North Korea.
The fire of the test rocket aimed at a particular assessment of the tactical capabilities of the cruise missile and the accuracy of that short-range missile system, the official declaration transmitted by the KCNA said.
North Korean authorities said testing the short-range rocket “affirmed the accuracy, reliability and efficiency of this weapons system, which is in the production phase”.
