Mustafa: Price growth cannot happen only because of ZRE and Government, should be seen in citizens' consumer baskets

Former Kosovo Prime Minister Isa Mustafa has spoken about the crisis with the electricity the country is facing. He said the ZREA proposal should not be accepted. The Energy Regulatory Office has demanded that electricity prices be increased, for that, Mustafa has said that this demand should not be accepted that [...]

The Energy Regulatory Office has demanded that the electricity price increase, for this reason Mustafa, has said that this demand should not be accepted for such rates to rise.

The demand for growth has always been, we've always considered that the ZRE should study these requirements well and that the growth not be done without great reasoning. The price increase cannot happen only because of ZRE and Government, but it should be seen how all of this is expressed in the citizens' consumer basket of the Republic of Kosovo”, he has said.

By contrast, Mustafa has said that a solution must be found that is acceptable both to consumers and to the electricity regulator, both to the Government.

I don't think ZRE's proposal should be accepted to raise at such rates electricity prices. A solution must be reached that is acceptable both to consumers and to the electricity regulator and to Government. This is because these are not consumer fantasies that they want to have low-priced energy, but is in real condition that Kosovo is far away from other countries in view of wages. A person who is standardised several times lower than citizens in other countries cannot afford electricity growth, as with other countries”, Mustafa has said.
