Despite international pressure on the Government of Kosovo for holding Serbia's referendum in Kosovo, leaders of three opposition parties are supporting Prime Minister Albin Kurti's stance against holding Serbia's referendum in Kosovo.
Former member of the Democratic League of Kosovo(LDK), Isa Mustafa told Gazeta Express that Prime Minister Kurti's proposal for Serbs to vote in the Intervention Office and via mail allows Serbia's referendum.
According to him, it is a fraud of the people if they are said to be anti-covening voting through OSCE-sponsored deployments, while it is constitutional voting in referendum for another state through the Interconnecting Office, as Kosovo institutions have today stated.
This is the form our institutions are dealing with. The referendum is not prohibited if the government says they can vote through the liaison office; so only are they held before the citizens. Nowhere in the Constitution of Kosovo does it write that it is unconstitutional to vote through polling sites assisted by O The SEU, while constitutionally voting in referendum for another state through the Liaison Office. This is demagogue and farce. In fact, changes in Serbia's Constitution are the issue of the Serbian state not of Kosovo. It is the issue of state sovereignty of a country”, Mustafa said.
He said the positions of President Vjosa Osmani, Chief Parliamentary Glauk Konjufca and Prime Minister Kurti are not clear.
Mustafa said Kosovo institutions had to in time clarify international opinion without the acceptance of the referendum organisation for changes in the Constitution of Serbia and Kosovo and gain their support.
Kosovo's <x0Institutions -- President, Chief Parliamentary and Prime Minister respectively -- are not clear in their position regarding the participation of Kosovo Serbs in Serbia's referendum. Whether or not another country's referendum is allowed in another state, because it is essence. It is not essential whether Serbs in Kosovo will vote in their seats through the OSCE, or through the Interconnecting Office of Serbia; by post or digitally”, Mustafa said.
The former LDK leader also said that neither the QUINT countries' statement is clear, as according to him these countries express themselves for Serbia's national referendum, which is actually Serbia's state referendum.
Kosovo's “Institutions had to in time clarify international opinion without the acceptance of the referendum organisation for changes in the Constitution of Serbia and Kosovo and gain their support. Today's QUINT statement says Kosovo institutions have not done their job. Nor will the Parliament resolution. Instead, it is necessary to negotiate and convince our partners that in Kosovo the Serbian referendum should not be held.
It is important that the opposition also take care of the vocabulary that it is using and in the descriptions of the referendum, because through them the QUINT countries are also named as supporters of this” referendum, Mustafa said.
Opposition parties in the country have come to the support of the Kosovo government. The LDK, PDK and AAK are rejecting holding Serbia's referendum in Kosovo.
For PDK leader Memli Krasniqi, it is unconstitutional to hold Serbia's referendum in Kosovo. He has declared for Express that this would constitute flagrant violations of the sovereignty of the Republic of Kosovo.
LDK leader Lumir Abdixhiku has written on Facebook that his party expects respect for the Constitution and Kosovo laws.
Meanwhile, AAK spokesman Lulzim Blaka has declared that this referendum is an attempt to exercise Serbia's sovereignty over Kosovo.
