Miftaraj has said the two states that are reluctant to have the liberalisation are the Netherlands and France, where, for the latter, Miftaraj has said Kosovo institutions should have contacts and meetings in order to persuade them to lift its veto of visa liberalisation.
The European Commission has concluded that Kosovo has met all criteria for visa liberalisation. Unfortunately, there are two states where France is one of the mains, which have hesitations with the fact that Kosovo has truly met all criteria for fighting organised crime and corruption. In this regard I believe that our institutions and the government would have to have contacts and meetings with France in order to convince this state somehow to veto visa liberalisation”, he said.
Elections expected to be held this year in France, according to Miftaright, are related to the visa liberalisation process for Kosovo.
If France were to change its belief, I believe it would pass to the Netherlands so that Kosovo can get what is up to the people of Kosovo to travel visa-free to Europe. According to what was said in February, a delegation from France to Kosovo will come. We'll have a choice in France soon. So I believe that these two processes will connect to each other for France to change access and make a decision to allow visa liberalisation for Kosovars”, Miftaraj said. /EO/
