Former German cadre Angela Merkel has refused a job offer by UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres.
Guterres had asked Merkel to lead an advisory board led by former heads of state and government.
“Merkel spoke with the UN secretary-general last week, thanked him and made it known that she would not accept the offer”, Merkel's office said.
Guterres reportedly made the offer directly to Merkel, reports Dpa, broadcast Klankosova.tv.
The 67-year-old conservative did not run the September federal elections and withdrew from German national politics late last year after 16 years at the helm as Chancellors.
Merkel had shown very little in public about her plans after leaving the Chancellor.
The advisory board proposed by Guterres is one of the UN Secretary General's key reform projects in his second term, which began in January.
The panel will identify global public goods and other areas of common interest where governance improvements are more necessary and propose options on how this can be achieved.
