Lajcak: Association must be implemented, but do not want “Republika Srpska” in Kosovo

The Association Agreement must be implemented. Nobody with a sound mind wants “Republika Srpska” in Kosovo. Serbia has the right to give its proposals for Association, but Kosovars will not be forced to sign something harmful to their country. My visit to Pristina and Belgrade with Gabriel Escobar has three goals. [...]
Slovak Miroslav Lajcak, whose country does not recognise Kosovo, is a politician with rich CV. In his country, he has reached the tops of diplomacy, while even in the international arena he has held high positions since the UN, where he served as president of the General Assembly, then, in the name of the EU, he has supervised the referendum for independence, served as high representative in Bosnia and so on. But, appointed by the EU, as representatives for Kosovo dialogue Serbia, the Slovak diplomat has accepted a difficult job in which many of his colleagues have failed.
“Miro”, as some politicians call it in Pristina, due to frequent contacts with him, will come to Pristina tomorrow, accompanied by Gabriel Escobar as reinforcement, to advance the question of dialogue, which has stalled in recent months.
In an interview, Lajcak does not want to stress achievements, but says he has made <x0-> a lot of efforts” for the process. Aware of reactions in Kosovo and the US diplomatic offensive to the negotiation process and the issue of Association, Lajcak has told Gazeta Express that Kosovo and Serbia must implement all agreements. But it has chosen to make clear what Europeans rule out about association.
“No one with a sound mind, especially looking at the current situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, would propose such a”, the Slovak points out. He refuses to say that the association will be even without executive competence, stressing that Serbia also has the right to deliver its proposals, but stresses that Kosovo leadership will not say no one will sign anything harmful.
Lajcak does not know the deadline for agreement, but says that if there is a will, it can be achieved within a few months.
