Republika Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti has been the first to speak at the extraordinary session on the issue of holding Serbia's referendum in Kosovo.
Kurti has said the vote can be held only by mail or at Serbia's liaison office in Kosovo and in no other form.
The executive head says Kosovo is an independent, sovereign and democratic state and denies no one the right to vote.
I'm starting this word by citing a few notions that we all know here, and that we're often proud of: sovereignty, equality, democracy, independence. All these notions integrated into the Constitution take full meaning and value. Our constitution specifically stipulates that citizens are equal before the law. The definition of our state as independent, sovereign, and democratic is also correctly defined. The states that are multiethnic and governed in a democratic manner. The states that guarantee human freedom and rights. Freedoms and fundamental rights apply to all citizens as well as voting.
The exercise of this right to vote should be done under the umbrella of our legal standards. By respecting the norms for voting abroad and electoral law. Nobody's breaking their vote. The referendum vote could take place in the liaison office in accordance with our law and constitution. Kosovo Serbs in these years have not voted as voters abroad, but as voters within the country. The problem begins with Serbia's constitution, which considers Kosovo inside the country”, has further added Prime Minister Kurti.
“Yet such a mistake does not reason on the continuation of such a mistake. Kosovo is a sovereign state. Organising the voting outside the liaison office is outside the law. Voting in this referendum could take place in this office or via mail.
To make it clear that such an attitude is for all of the Assembly and citizens, he will read the text of a Resolution in a few minutes, Kurti said.
