Prime Minister Kurti attended round table for Kosovo's Social Admission Programme
The prime minister, Albin Kurti, at the opening of the roundtable for Kosovo's popular social residence programme, said social residence is critical infrastructure to boost the welfare and security of citizens, for social equality and to strengthen and develop communities. He also pointed out that the social residence function goes beyond housing people in need, providing affordable housing for communities with lower incomes, and improving their overall welfare.
The government is working in this direction and the social residence programme is envisioned in the Government Programme of the Republic of Kosovo 2021-2025.
In this case, according to the media communiqué from the prime minister's office, Kurti is said to have stressed that within the mandate, they are aiming to create the social residence programme, as well as to enable affordable housing for 40,000 families.
“This will be achieved through schema “120<20” and “1501850”, where beneficiary families will become homeowners with a monthly installment of just 120 euros respectively, the maximum 150 euros and for a period of no more than 120, respectively, 150 months. The annual cost of this project is about 22m euros, but this amount gradually turns to the institution, which will be established and tasked with implementing the” project, says the communique.
The proposal for Kosovo's Adexed Social Banning Programme was presented and discussed, which will contribute to the movement towards implementing reforms needed for the development of the residential sector, the formation of policies and the provision of social residence for citizens in need of support.
This concept was discussed by representatives from the Ministry of Environment, Space Planning and Infrastructure, the Ministry of Finance, Labour and Transfers, the Ministry of Communities and Kthim, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Management of Local Power, the Parliament of Kosovo, UN Habitat and Council of Europe Development Bank (CEB).
The round table was organised by the Ministry of Environment, Space Planning and Infrastructure, and the Parliamentary Commission for Agriculture, Forestry, Rural Development, Environment, Space Planning and Infrastructure, in partnership with the UN Habbitat Kosovo and supported by the CEB.
