Krasniqi: We're still in line with the energy crisis, Kurt is neglecting PDK recommendations.

The Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) has warned even deeper crisis in terms of electricity the following months, while saying Kosovo is still not in the grip of this problem. Chairman The PDK, Memli Krasniqi, has talked about the possibility of making opposition, co-operation with other parties, and the creation of the so-called “government under shadow”.

In this interview, Krasniqi has said that this crisis was warned months ago, but that, according to him, it was neglected by the government.

He says the same crisis is not their neighbouring state, which he says has taken long-term action. The same says the Kurt government didn't.

“Energy criteria like the Democratic Party of Kosovo have already warned us for three months and not that we were the only ones who knew we would face but we were worried early. For the first time, we have issued communicates on the energy issue and on the issue of gas-discreet on 29 September, while on October 9th we have concretely warned of the problems that we are now living in, because it has been obvious that they are going to happen, we have given our recommendations on the continuation of what the Government should take, but that unfortunately it was completely negligible”, Krasniqi has declared the economy online.

I'm sorry we're facing this crisis today, but what I'm most sorry about is that we're not even in the heat of the crisis. The potential to make things worse is huge, while the government's attention is very small”, he said.

Krasniqi says other states have long taken measures for the energy crisis.

“It is obvious that the crisis has hit the entire region and Europe, but the states that have taken time measures, at least from September and October, have taken action and examples in our neighbourhood, we have Albania or Northern Macedonia, where there is no trouble like us, there are no reductions of electricity, while more and more are going on and going on with us, Krasniqi has said, as he added that his criticism is not about the crisis, but is responsible for the lack of resolution.

“The emergency situation he announced a few days ago was the recommendation The PDK's at least 15 days earlier, because energy reductions had to have a legal basis, but also toʹi is given a variety of opportunities and facilities to address the crisis properly”.

“What had to be done, we had to be heard about what we said in early October, so the Government would help get into long-term contracts with the prices of that time which even then were adults compared to 2020, so it had to have the contract done at that time, have a security supply for specific amounts, and we would have been able to pay two or three times as large, but not as when there were cases that were paid five times more expensive than in 2020, Krasni said.

The PDK's warning of a “government under shadow”, sees it as reflecting what the Government of Kosovo should be like. For this initiative, he says they are working teams to finalise the concept.

“is one of my main projects and goals even in the sense of reform and PDK reshuffle. It's not something new, because the PDK has been working together with our teams' colleagues in finalising the concept with which we're going to stand before public opinion because you know, the concept of the cabinet has good governance and the reform of its organisation will be reflected in how we see it and how we believe it should be the Government of Kosovo, and by the end of the month, we're going to be finished at the end of this project, Krasni said.

While the chances of the country going to elections this year, Krasniqi sees impossible because of the numbers the Vetevendosje Movement has in the Parliament.

You should know, the opposition is not able to take the country to the elections because of the numbers it has in the Assembly, so it's the prime minister himself and the party who can send the country to the elections and whether or not it's universal”.

The “what is needed today is to change the course and mentality of Government because the prime minister has received the mandate of powerful citizens, has a great support and full dominance in the country in terms of MPs, and I believe that he should deal with Government and governance, and should really start to fulfil the commitments because unfortunately in the first year of the second government, there is no one in Kosovo who can convince three big jobs that Prime Minister Kurti<1> has completed, Krasniqi has said.

Header The PDK has said their co-operation with other opposition parties is principled, while adding that they have not yet created any common opposition fronts.
