<x0m>Mbrem, extremist forces tried to attack administrative buildings, the Almay City Police Department, as well as local departments and police stations,” was quoted as saying by police spokesman, Airbek Salts, by Interfax-Kzakhstan agencies, T ASS and Ria Novosti.
“Tenguiding units have been eliminated and their identities are being identified”, he added.
Azierbek also added that a <x0-terrorist operation” was under way in one of the districts of Almati, the economic capital of the Central Asian country, where the riots were most violent.
The announcement comes after the arrival of peacekeeping troops from a Russian-led military alliance following a request by the country's president as antigovernmental protests continued.
Demonstrations across Kazakhstan began Sunday for nearly doubling gas prices, but since then have increased, including other complaints, including poor living conditions in some areas, as well as 30 years under the rule of the same party since independence from the Soviet Union in 1991.
