Havenier from the Presidency: Now when I get out, I'm going to pay attention to Rugova's statue, I feel like I have to do this.

On the first day as a diplomatic representative of the United States in Kosovo, the new US ambassador, Jeff Hovenier, has chosen to pay tribute in September of Kosovo's first president, Ibrahim Rugova, reports Express.

Ambassador Havenier, before leaving the presidency he went to hand over the credentials to President Vjosa Osmani, said she feels she should pay her respects in Rugova's September.

Now when we get out, I wanted to pay tribute to President Rugova's statue, and I felt that this is the act that US ambassador has to do for this personality in Kosovo's history”, Hovenier said.

Outside, President Osmani expressed honour that he and the new US ambassador laid wreaths of flowers in September of Ibrahim Rugova.

Ambassador Havenier thanked President Osmani in Albanian, while he said: “I have the honour of being here to recognise President Rugova's contribution and history. ”
