Serbia's Minister of Internal Affairs, Aleksandar Vulin, has again stated that Recak's massacre is “a terrible and great lie that must be discovered”.
He said NATO used this event as an excuse for the start of <x0-aggression” in former Jugolsavi.
“Recak is a lie that served as an excuse to kill over a hundred of our children. That lie has to be whitewashed”, Voulin said in Serbia's morning Happy TV programme.
Denying the massacre, where 45 Albanian civilians were brutally killed, the Serbian minister is doing so on the very day Kosovo leaders said denying genocide is the last phase of genocide.
Serbia's efforts to change the truth and denial of what is likely 23 years ago also cited the American ambassador to Kosovo Jeffrey Havenier, saying that denial and legalisation of crimes turn the region back.
“Peace and justice come from admitting past crimes. This is vital that such crimes not happen. Accepting the truth is only the first step of justice. Let no one forget or deny what happened here. That is why the US and allies rose to the defense of the people of Kosovo, defenseless civilians and in the name of peace, freedom and stability. We believe that all peoples deserve to live in freedom and safety”, Hovenier said at the Recak Massacre memorial ceremony.
