The European Union has launched a new financial aid package for Ukraine, worth 1.2 billion euros, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen told the media.
Von der Leyen suggested that assistance will be available immediately.
“Ukrainian is a free and sovereign state and the EU is at its side and determined to resolve the crisis. The aid will be available immediately”, she said.
The EC president said the aid package would be made up of loans and subsidies, where, in the first phase, it would be 600m euros, reports the paper.
“The EU has offered considerable assistance since 2014, almost 17 billion euros in Ukraine in support of its modernisation, but especially to fight COVID-19”, the president added.
Moreover, this year the Commission will continue doubling the assistance of 120m euros in grants of”, it concluded.
