Why does the EU mention mutual recognition? Lajcak: We're on a line with the United States.

The European Union is closely co-operating with the United States of America on the issue of Kosovo dialogue, says special EU representative Miroslav Lajcak. The fact that the EU does not mention mutual recognition, but “the abnormalisation of the reports” when it comes to the final Kosovo agreement -- Serbia -- Lajcak does not see it as an obstacle to this co-operation. He said in an interview for Gazeta Express that the EU is completely in line with the US.
No, I don't see this as an obstacle, because we're completely in line with the United States for what we want to achieve by this process, which is a sustainable long-term solution. We want Kosovo and Serbia to leave the past behind and look to the future, and for that we are in the same position. In the end, it is not about the EU and the United States, but about the leadership of Kosovo and Serbia, which must sit at the table and agree. Nobody on the outside can do this for you and this is for your future”, Lajcak says.
The Slovak emissary does not view the fact that the US insists on mutual recognition between Kosovo and Serbia, while the EU does not mention that.
“The EU says “abnormalization of reports”. I don't want to see it as a contradiction. The EU formula is broader, it's more comprehensive and I stress the fact that we're dictating the solution. You are the ones who decide on the solution, both sides. We don't say what needs to be done or what shouldn't be done. You own the process”, Lajcak said.
