Escobar warning: We will hesitate to impose sanctions on those who destabilise the region

Special Representative of the United States for the Western Balkans Gabriel Escobar, in an interview for news agency “MINA” has said Washington will not hesitate to exploit the sanctions mechanism to bring a strong message to corrupt persons and those destabilizing the region. Escobar said leaders [...]

Escobar has said leaders in the Western Balkans should work for the interest of citizens and not for personal benefit or for their parties.

He's been saying that “The US will be a partner of those who have constructive and non-destructive approaches to the future of the region, which is characterised with EU and NATO membership, as well as transparent and dynamic economy”.

Escobar, speaking of Montenegro, has declared it irritating how politicians and other actors exploit the identity issue to gain political points. He says such a thing hinders progress.

The “is very frustrating and counterproductive that politicians and other actors are using identity themes to gain political points at the expense of economic progress and regional reconciliation,” has added Escobar.

The US days ago has imposed sanctions on Zvonko Veselinovic's group and Milan Radojicicqi, until additional sanctions were imposed on the leader of “Republika Srpska”, Milorad Dodik, as he has intensified Bosnia and Herzegovina's secession and destabilisation efforts on Wednesday.
