The quake struck the western province of Badgis, which borders Turkmenistan, and destroyed houses with bricks.
Unfortunately, the first figures show that 22 people were killed, including women and children, and four were injured”, said Baz Mohammad Sarwari, director of the Center for Information and Culture in Badgis, adding that the balance of victims could be even greater.
Mula Janan Saeces of the Emergency Situations Ministry confirmed the number of victims and said 700 houses had been destroyed.
The quake has been at a depth of 30 kilometers to the Euro-Mediterranean Seismology Centre.
