A fire broke out early Wednesday, leaving five residents dead, emergency services said.
The Fire Department said through a post on social media that the fire started around midnight and to bring it under control took approximately two hours, Reuters writes.
About 70 residents were evacuated from this house in Moncada, a northern suburb of Valencia, the third largest city in Spain. The house had room for 100 people.
Emergency services said eleven people were sent to the hospital because of the smoke inhalation.
The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Fire Department and the police.
The first signs, according to what I was told, show two possibilities: an electrical problem, likely linked to a oxygen bomb or the neglect of a resident who was sucking cigarettes”, said fireman Martin Perez Aranda.
