Three dead and hundreds of houses destroyed by fire, Biden declares a disaster

Three people have disappeared and allegedly died of fire that broke out in Colorado, causing thousands of evacuations and destroying nearly 1,000 homes.

Officials initially said there were no reports of victims or residents missing after the fire that erupted on 30 December in the suburbs north of the Denver Metropolitan area.

County Sheriff Boulder said the three missing persons, who he refused to identify, lived in houses that had been burned by flames, reports the BBC.

Authorities were investigating all ways to determine the source of fire, while US President Joe Biden has declared the state of national disaster.
