So at least Croatia's prime minister, Andrey Plenkov, has announced today some details, reports the Index.hr.
“With the American side has been reached agreement on the infantry combat tools we have negotiated over the past several years”, Plenkov said.
It's about M2A2 armor. ODS, while the total value amounts to $196.4 million. It has also become known that $51.1m will be the US donation, which means Croatia will pay $130.3m.
Croatia will receive 62 combat vehicles, 22 vehicles for spare parts and 5 training vehicles, while modernising them will take place in Slavonski Brod. The equipment includes a 25mm automatic cannon, a 7.62 calibre machine gun and antitank missiles.
Plenkov stressed that this agreement, which has been negotiated since 2017, has met some of Croatia's strategic goals of strengthening allied relations with the United States, lowering the price of vehicles compared to previous negotiations.
With its membership in NATO's alliance, Croatia has taken on the obligation that by 2026 it form a middle infantry brigade, which requires adequate equipment for the land army.
