Chief of the Aqua: Earthquakes could jeopardise Kosovo's water supply

Supervisor of the KRU chief executive head “Prishtina”, Sokol Xhafa, hopes that during the summer there will be no reduction in drinking water, stressing that problematic infrastructure continues to be inadequate. According to him, thanks to investment in the plant in Shkabyj, they have managed to save from the two main sources of [the...] supply.
According to him, thanks to investment in the plant in Shkabaij, they have managed to save from the capital's two main sources of supply, the Lake of Badoci and the Batlava.
Xhafa, however, says that earthquakes may be available in the water supply that he calls extraordinary occasions.
“About drinking water, levels are relatively good. We're talking about a good water level management. We had very good levels in January of this year. But we had a long summer where consumption was extremely high for consumers. This has led to relatively low levels. But thanks to the factory in Shqabai we have been able to save two springs in Lake Badoc and Batala. As for 2022, I believe there will be no water supply problems because we are in a period where we will have rainfall from January to spring”.
“As far as water supply citizens will have no water problem, but problematic continues to be the flawed infrastructure. This led to occasional reductions in high areas during the summer season. There can be no water crisis because the supply will continue to be stable for all consumers. There may also be other effects because earthquakes may come, but there are extraordinary cases of”, Xhafa said.
According to him, consumer debts have reached over 45m euros since the war. He has made it clear that because of debts he has sent to the owner every two months of 600 courses.
“Borgheet are over 45m euros in these 20-year post-war years, and the debts we are talking about in 2021 are not small. But the old debt continues to be high and continues to rise to 100%. Unfortunately, a small portion of consumers pay regularly, while other parts pay much less. The problem continues to have aspects of social cases that are not being treated legally, and it is not that we have payments the same as it does with the electricity payments that subsidize the ministry of social welfare. We wish to change the law and take advantage of this part to receive payment”.
He wishes to change the law because with water that “is”, “CRU” Pristina covers all expenses for salaries, covering electricity tariffs, etc.
“With the water sold we cover all expenses for salaries, covering electricity fees that are high, and paying over 2.5m euros in electricity. We depend on consumer payments. We've had more cases this year than we've sent because the pandemic measures have been easier. We've sent 600 subjects to the master every two months. The bad luck is that consumers are being charged extra by” tariffs.
“... We've been trying to save consumers from the master by calling them through the call center where a bunch of them have responded because we leave the completion as the last chance to escape from tariffs”, he said.
Xhafa added that 150 million in the polluted water sector will be invested in 6 years, EO reports.
“The water supply will be stable for all. The rest of us wish new age employees would come because we have problems with the staff because of old age. We will continue with capital investments in the polluted water sector. Investments in the field are scheduled to begin in 2023, where 150 million will be invested in the polluted water sector for 6 years.
