Journalists were allowed in the Oval Office for the start of the meeting, and the president spoke of recent developments regarding the crisis in Ukraine, writes The Guardian.

Beden noted that he has talked to Ukraine's president, Voldymyr Zelenskiy, last Thursday, and that the two countries are engaged in non-stop diplomacy “x1> while monitoring the threat of a possible Russian invasion.

“We continue to promote diplomacy as the best way forward. But with Russia continuing to muster its forces around Ukraine, we are ready, no matter what happens,” said Biden.

The president praised officials from the US and allied countries for presenting the threat of escalating Russian aggression at the UN Security Council meeting earlier today.
