The new American ambassadors to Kosovo and Serbia, as well as the emphasis on Secretary Blinken's letter, are expected to provide a new dynamic Kosovo-Serbia dialogue.
Recognisors of the dialogue process are urging the country's institutions to benefit from the new American approach to consolidating Kosovo's citizenship and international subjectivity, but also strengthening relations between the two states.
Violet Hajoli, from the Kosovo Democratic Institute, tells Kosovo Press that the back of ambassadors appointed in Kosovo and Serbia shows the importance the US wants to give the final agreement between the two neighbouring states.
Hajoll: Returning new US ambassadors shows they will have a bigger role in dialogue
We are currently seeing assessments of the new US ambassadors in Kosovo, even in Serbia. Based on the background of these two figures, it is seen that they have an experience in the negotiator processes that Kosovo has passed, whether in Rambouillet or Vienna. Therefore, such setbacks made us think that perhaps they have been appointed to have a greater role in the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue process, but other regional issues that have emerged. Therefore, their role in the dialogue process will be greater, and the administration's interest or attention to these processes will be higher. Kosovo is good to benefit from the American ambassador's experience in negotiating processes. He mentioned there has been co-operation and has recognised former Kosovo leaders, such as former President Rugova. We as a state can benefit from his experience in the negotiating process. I believe that the Government of Kosovo in terms of foreign policy in general, but also dialogue in particular should co-ordinate its actions with the American Embassy here and the American representatives, given their role in consolidating Kosovo's constitutional subjectivity”, she says.
Similar thoughts were shared by the connoisseur of the dialogue process, Gazmir Raci, who says of KosovoPress, that after Secretary Blinken's letter, the American role will be more powerful in the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue.
Racy: Our foreign policy has to go online with American foreign policy.
The U.S.R.R.I.I. is non-resistable and irreplaceable, so our foreign policy has to go online with American foreign policy. Of course, new ambassadors to both Pristina and Belgrade are persons who in their past have been directly involved in Kosovo's freedom, independence and state building. Their expertise is also necessary for the White House, but the empowering of future relations”, he says.
As leading American messages this early year in Kosovo, Raci says it was statements that Kosovo is in good hands in support of the Kosovo leadership.
Racy: Statement that Kosovo is in good hands is an important factor to new American approach
His “Declaration that Kosovo is in good hands, for me it is an important factor to the new American approach to Kosovo and the Kosovo leadership we now have in office. The American role is growing stronger, is the first time we have a representative directly from President Biden and the new administration at the White House. I hope this new approach will be used to the maximum on the part of the country”, he adds.
On Thursday, United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken sent a letter to Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti.
Among other things, it said that the relationship between the US and Kosovo is rooted in common democratic values and the pledge for sovereign and independent Kosovo.
