An Albanian has escaped from Vercelli prison on New Year's Eve. Italian media report that the Albanian prisoner for robbery in several villas used sheets to escape from the fourth floor, after he sawed the bars.
His associates were waiting outside and able to take him away. Meanwhile, the cell's fellow, also of Albanian origin, was arrested by police after allegedly broke his arm as he jumped off the sheets.
The event has alarmed the prison police, who have been put in pursuit of the Albanian.
