Over 80 thousand people sought jobs last year in Kosovo

The general director at the Employment Agency of the Republic of Kosovo, Drin Harachia, said the total number of registered job seekers by the end of 2021 was about 82 thousand people.

According to him, 38 thousand are women, while 43 thousand are men, clarifying that 8 372 persons were registered for the first time as job seekers.

According to him, during 2020 there has been a significant increase in the number of job seekers, and the main reason that the government's Emergency Paco for supporting these categories as a result of Covid-19, writes EO.

He stressed that job demand has more in retail services, professionals, technicians and professional collaborators, but also in the information technology sector.

We had over 90 thousand registered job seekers in 2020. In the ARPK, more unemployed are in basic professions, such as craft and similar professions, workers for sale, professional collaborators, etc. We have more requests from businesses for profiles that have to do with the information technology sector”.

Charachia has clarified that they support businesses with programmes under active labour market measures.

“Within the private sector co-operation with businesses mainly we support them under active labour market measures. Pay subsidies, a programme that subsidies for 12 months a job seekers, is likely to be supported by business and by the agency in this case”.

“Where his payment is 50/50 to a set amount. We've got work training 3 to 6 months, where a job seekers can go to a business and it's paid for 4 months there are times when we're paid by our side, and 2 months from businesses and we have work or practice training at”.

Someone can follow the training course even if he's employed. It's known for professional training and rehabilitation, and in this case we have cooperation with businesses that send job seekers who follow different training. Last year alone, in view of the pandemic situation, we supported over 3 thousand job seekers to businesses in terms of the wage subsidies and practice program at work”.

According to him, the agency is a public provider of employment services aimed at managing the labour market and implementing employment and professional skills policies.

As for the services offered to employers, Harachia said that in this case it has to do with registration, announcing free jobs, mediating at active measures and so on.
