Mother Teresa was the inventor of the Order of the Missionaries of Charity to help the poor.
In 1962 the government of India honored Mother Teresa with the Padma Shri Award for her help to the bodies of India. It was awarded the Yawaharlal Nehru Award for International Understanding in 1969.
In 1979 she accepted the Nobel Peace Prize and was sanctified on October 19, 2003 by Pope John Paul II and was sanctified on September 4, 2016 by Pope Francis.
