Because of increasing the number of corruption cases in Kosovo, the Government of Kosovo, on January 21st, has adopted new measures against pandemic.
According to them, citizens entering Kosovo should be fully vaccinated and have the strengthening dose of the vaccine against the coronary.
Those who don't have a backup dose should have a negative test of kind PCR, valid for 48 hours.
Some Albanian Kukes citizens of Kukes near the Kosovo border have protested at the Morina border point Monday, connecting the two countries.
We made two vaccines. They're looking for the third. The third is not done unless it has the time, [that is] without becoming six months”, Free Europe has told Radio Africa Muja, one of the protesters.
According to him, this is the problem caused by the Kosovo government.
This is a government problem. In Kosovo alone, we have this condition, that in other states, not in Greece or in [North] Macedonia, we do not have this condition”, he has said.
Protest organiser Rakip Matmuja has said the Kosovo Government's decision on Kosovo's entry conditions has caused problems for many citizens.
“We have a peaceful protest to seek the Government of Kosovo, president, Parliament Speaker, to remove the third vaccine [as condition for entry into Kosovo]. To recognise the Albanian state document, the vaccine certificate, to remove the tamponavirus [test for corruption], people to move freely”, he said.
“look for PCR. Where we get 30 euros for PCR has said Fatjon Matmuya, who also protested in Morina.
But, the Kosovo Health Ministry has argued on making the decision for new measures, saying it is based on the epidemiological situation in the country.
The decision envisions relief for those with three doses of vaccine, due to the apparent lower risk of infection, until citizens of the Republic of Kosovo can enter the country being vaccinated with only two doses, without having the need to present the negative test RT The PCR, and also if they don't have two doses of vaccine, but undergoing domestic quarantine for a period of seven days since entry into the territory of the Republic of Kosovo”, the Health Ministry has said.
According to her, after monitoring the epidemiological situation, the measures could be revised by the end of the week.
Kosovo has asked for facilities for its citizens, during border crossing, even Northern Macedonia.
This country's Health Minister, Bekim Sali, has said the Kosovo Government's decision presents major obstacles to the movement of citizens towards Kosovo.
Sali has told Radio Free Europe that she well understands the authorities' decision in Kosovo, but, according to him, “modalities should be found in order, along with citizens' health, not to prevent their free movement”.
A day earlier, Minister Sali has talked with Minister of Health in Kosovo Rifat Latifi to reconsider the latest move.
“Colegus Latifi expressed the distress citizens of Northern Macedonia, who have family, business ties and other obligations linking them to Kosovo, and this move has significantly limited”, Sali has declared.
The Albanian MP in Serbia's Parliament, Shaip Kamberi, has said that the Kosovo Government's recent decision to condition entry into Kosovo's territory on the third dose of vaccine or negative test is obviously making it difficult for Albanians to translate the Presevo Valley.
“The measures necessary for protection from the COVID-19 pandemic should not limit the basic freedom of free circulation of Albanians from the Presevo Valley, which Kosovo has the top destination of”, Kamberi wrote on his Facebook account.
The Kosovo government has said it has made the decision to strengthen the measures after increasing the number of infected.
The biggest growth has started over the past week.
Unlike December, when daily cases have been single, this month they have reached hundreds and thousands.
Currently, active corruption cases in Kosovo are approximately 20,000.
