The city, with mostly families benefiting from the scheme, according to the Kosovo Statistics Agency, is Mitrovica, with the largest number of families in March -- a total of 2438. Meanwhile, the municipality, with the smallest number of households benefiting from social schemes, is Mamusha, mostly 18 Sosh. According to the AKS, a large number of households are beneficial to the first category of social scheme, meaning that the scheme involved them for a 12-month period.
According to the Labour and Social Management Ministry, over 53m euros for the scheme have been allocated this year. “The total amount for supporting social assistance families for 2020 has been 47,008,042.00 euros, while the total amount for supporting social aid beneficiaries for 2021 is 53,637,481,25 euros, this budget increase has been due to double payment realisation and increased social assistance in the few months of these two 48x1> has said MPMS for Indexline. The value of material aid administered each month ranges from 60 to 180 euros.
That depends on the number of family members. Thus, households with one member benefit 60 euros a month from schemes, while those with 15 members receive only 180 euros. In the third quarter, from July to September, households in the social scheme have increased benefits by 30%, due to the global pandemic COVID-19. According to MPMS, in 2022 there is expected to be increased budgets shared for this category of citizens.
The increase is expected to be approved by the Government since the beginning of the year.
“In the 2022 budget for the Social Assistance Centre, the budget is planned more, but how it will be applied and what the additional benefits or the possible growth of the value of social assistance for the family will be determined by the Government of Kosovo in January/2022” the ministry concludes.
