This same day, the first 9 cases with the Omitron version were confirmed in Kosovo.
Meanwhile, 8 more positive cases resulted on December 31st.
On December 27th, the MSH announced that all citizens who took two doses of vaccine three months ago can receive the reinforcement dose.
“Recursing time for taking the reinforcement dosage is done based on research by various states about vaccine against COVID-19, respectively strengthening doses, epidemiological situation in the country and the region, presence of both the SARS Omitorn variant COV-2 as well as the need for full vaccination of the population”, the MSH said.
The previous recommendation was that all citizens over the age of 18 could receive strengthening doses six months after taking the second dosage of the anti - Coronavirus vaccine.
People infected with Omitron's version reported a sense of tingling in the throat as a symptom, which caused their voice to change or clinch.
Unlike the Delta version, where patients had throat pains, those infected with the new mutation, the only symptoms are scratching.
Health experts in Kosovo have said that the symptoms of the seasonal flu and Omitron variant are similar, so they have demanded that differentiation be made through laboratory tests.
Meanwhile, some studies conducted in the world have suggested that the Omitron variant may be easier than Delta, which is currently a dominant variant in Kosovo.
Earlier in December, Kosovo sent over 70 positive samples for analysis to a laboratory in Germany to see if the Omitron variant was present.
This new version of COVID-19 was originally detected in South Africa in November. It has since spread to over 90 countries in the world.
