Kosovo police are now standing at the Brnjak and Jarinje border points to prevent incidents by Serb protesters. The possible passage of the situation there is not being excluded from security expert Nuredin Ibishi, who says the provocations of Serb extremists could escalate.
Ibishi, in an interview for Kosova Prees, says that all of this is a tactic of Serbia to bring the international community into play so that it can ask Kosovo to lift reciprocity on the license plates.
I see the potential that could result in a possible escalation due to unforeseen provocation there, as provocations are being made... by extremist protesters against the police. But it could even come to an unexpected incident, of an attack, of an explosion that will not be safe there and take on larger proportions... 6:07. There is also the purpose of Serbs. To come up to a confrontation, provocation incident and then it will be used for their own ends, to have the international community intervene so reciprocity can be withdrawn”, Ibishi says.
He says convinced that protests in the country's north will continue, which, according to him, will be an additional burden for the Kosovo Police.
While saying it has capacities and potential to maintain order and calm, it adds that it is Serb protesters who must clear the way.
The process has started with provocations, from bringing protesters to Kosovo police. They too are having patience and discipline to avoid responding to such provocations. But the process is continuing with roadblocks and this is disturbing. There is no sign that any party will be released, and this will evidently last. The problem is to keep the situation from stemming from extremists who have come out to protest, but also from the Serb gendarmerie standing near the border. She knows she can't interfere, but really they're all provocations and pressure. Under all odds this protest will last and will be additional burden to the Kosovo Police”, he says.
Ibishi also comments on false news from Serbian media that security agencies are involved within Kosovo police and that there have been incidents in Brnjak.
It appeals to the Kosovo Police to refrain from provocations by Serb extremists who have blocked the road and are singing nationalist songs.
This is a special Serbia war, with various provocations and instincts, that, through real peace cases, will spur a greater police provocation, in order to disrupt order. For that reason, Kosovo police must refrain from these provocations, but the protesters themselves, who, along with Minister Rakiq, are standing there and being instructed by Belgrade... if it lasts an indefinite time, I think this could lead to the” incident, says Ibishi.
Since the beginning, the process of implementing the Kosovo Ministry of Internal Affairs' decision on reciprocity in the license plates with Serbia has started with various provocations by Serb extremists.
